meercatsThe Paphos Bird and Animal Park provides great fun for the whole family on a holiday day out in Cyprus. The park is located on the western edge of Paphos beyond Coral Bay, heading towards the Akamas peninsula.

The Park was started by Christos Christoforou who opened the park to house his large private bird collection and share it with the public and visitors to Cyprus. Today the park houses a large array of birds including; Falcons, Parrots, Owls and on the smaller side even finches.

The Paphos Bird and Animal Park also houses a large array of Animals as well as birds, hence the name. The list of animals includes Giraffes, Camels, Deer, Kangaroos, Monkeys and more. The park also has a reptile house, which has a range of snakes that includes local Cypriot species and international ones; the reptile house also houses Nile Crocodiles.
Another recent addition to the park in the last few years is an indoor amphitheatre which houses daily Parrot and Owl shows throughout the year.

The park is set in large landscaped grounds, with many of the buildings set in a traditional Cypriot style. There is a souvenir shop and one selling typically Cypriot handicrafts. There is also a petting farm in which you can get up close with the animals. If you are spending a whole day at the park there is also a restaurant and snack bar to help you stave off hunger.

The park is also proud of the fact that various animals have successfully bred at the park; most recently this has included the births of zebra, kangaroo and lemur.
So why not visit Paphos Bird and Animal Park whilst on your Cyprus holidays, (the closest thing Cyprus has to a good zoo). You can pick up tickets from your hotel, your holiday rep, or local travel agents on the island.
